Ok so I’ve set myself a challenge for my husband’s birthday which is in 16 days.  His main is yet to get the epic flying skill cause, well… he’s not so good with gold! So I’ve set myself the challenge to grind up 5200g for his birthday.  If I can actually pull this of I will be amazed!  So far I have 2800g, so I’m more than half way there at least.

I’ve been doing dailies with my druid, questing on my hunter and am pondering doig some farming of primal airs and cobra scales since they seem to sell so nicely.

Thing is, I don’t exactly get much wow time these days, so I’m lucky if I can manage to get about 2 hrs of an evening.  I need to use my time to the best of my ability as it’s so limited!  So, if anyone reads this… what would you do in those 2 hours a night to get the most gold? My proffessions are Skinning/LW on my druid, and Mining/JC(not maxed) on my hunter. If it’s dailies the druid had all options open to her, but with the farming I’m not so sure!

Gah, why did I think this would be a good idea?! /sigh.

  1. To get the necessary gold for my rogue’s epic riding skill I mined ore in outlands (mostly adamantite) for 6 days morning to night. I have a job that permits me to do some things like that tho. But mining was the most profitable for me I have to say.

I also sold off every single piece of enchanting material I had, pretty much fire-saled all my built up banks.

  2. I haven’t had mining up high enough to tell but I know many people who have made a lot using mining.

If you want to farm with Skinning, there are really only two options for REAL profitable skins. Cobra Scales and Thick Clefthoof. Unfortunately on both of these the success rate for getting one is pretty low. It’d be nice if you could have that skinning enhancement and increase your chances but I have no idea if that really improves your chance of getting anything other than scraps. Cobra scale farming the Cobras near the Nagas in Northern SMV takes even longer than Clefthoof hide farming in Nagrand, but the cobra scales are usually in high demand.

Other skinning opportunities while doing dailies - Do the “Banish More Demons” Quest in Ogri’la and kill the big green demon dogs North of Ogri’la and skin them, and all the ones other people are banishing but aren’t skinning. There are lots of them! Knothide, Felhide leather from these. In the Nethermine quests killing the flayers - those things spawn like crazy and if you are lucky you can be the only skinner in there and spend more time skinning than killing. Not bad for getting lots of Knothide leather along with that Crystal leather that only sells for 1g more a stack on the AH than to the vendor - so I usually just vendor that.

Sorry for the long post - but WOW I’m impressed with such an ambitious goal! Good luck! THAT is an awesome birthday present. :)

  3. 16 days to get 2400 gold means you have to average 150G per day, which is certainly doable. Doing the dailies in Ogri’la, Skettis, and the cooking daily will net you just over half of that per character. If you can do the Netherwing dailies, that’s at least another 50G for the basic ones (booterang, flayers, and cargo).

Add to that primals (air and fire and maybe water), which sell for about 20G, and stacks of adamantite (again, about 20G), and you should be able to get there, even in 2 hours/night.

Of course, if all else fails, I’m sure some of your online friends would be more than happy to chip in for a birthday present like that. I know I would, and I just started reading your blog!

  4. hey hunny,

well here they are my tips for quick money (if I had only time to do so myself :S)

    1. 2 daily quests in skettis (max 10-15 mins)
    2. 4 daily quests in ogri’la (can be done in 40 mins max)
    3. pvp daily (sign up and go out grinding and killing in the mean time in the villages in terrokar if waiting time is long)
    4. Nagrand, skin for clefthoof leather and grind motes of all kinds on the elemental plateau
    5. Netherstorm, fel arnements drop alot in the manaforges, the droprate is really high there and those sunfury’s also attend to drop lots of green items and lots of netherweave cloth. When I used to spend an hour grinding in Manaforge B’naar i came back with 80 gold.
    6. If you can make the clefhoof armor, the stamina thing for chest, head, feet etc. They sell really nice on AH.
    7. Ask a little mage to join you for some quick aoe grinding, always does the charme :)
